Background of the FSSIG The financial services industry is among the fastest growing work segments in the world. Financial Services SIG members are from banks, credit unions, insurance companies, real estate, investments and other financial services related institutions.
Organizational Beginnings: About 13 individuals from within the financial services industry met at PMI's 1993 Seminar/Symposium in San Diego and expressed active interest and a commitment to becoming a sub-group within PMI. The first technical track was presented to PMI '94 in Vancouver. Interest and enthusiasm continue to grow, be it for preparing for the next annual seminar/symposium or providing products and services to fulfill the needs of our members.
Working Together to Effectively Manage Change During the past few years there has been more emphasis placed upon getting products and services completed and available on a timely basis to the ultimate customers in the financial services industry. Customers are more educated, more demanding and have taken it upon themselves to speak up.
Many are asking questions related to quality, cost and what the competition is doing. Leading edge companies listen to their customers and respond quickly with appropriate changes. This includes doing things as efficiently as possible and focusing upon improving the ability to plan and manage project work.
How well companies plan and manage change in today's competitive environment holds the key to success or failure. Effectively completing projects in a timely manner is ultimately reflected in an improved financial and competitive position for a company. Project Management is an important key to making this happen!
